Growing Trees Network Hosts a Community Tree Planting Event in Denmark

On May 11, Growing Trees Network Foundation, in collaboration with the Slagelse Municipality and the Danish Nature Agency, planted 1,000 trees with the local community to restore local nature and raise awareness about climate action.

The event brought together local residents, volunteers, and key stakeholders, including the Mayor of Slagelse Municipality and the Head Forester from the Danish Nature Agency, to demonstrate the power of community-driven environmental restoration. The trees planted included a mix of native species selected for their ecological value, supporting biodiversity and improving soil health in the area.

Growing Trees Network Foundation has been a leading force in afforestation efforts across Denmark, working to establish new public forests in collaboration with municipalities, businesses, and citizens. Since its founding in 2013, the organisation has helped plant over 4.2 million trees, contributing to climate resilience, water protection, and improved biodiversity.

“We believe that everyone can contribute to taking climate action, and this project in Slagelse is a fantastic example of how partnerships can make a real impact. We’re proud to support this initiative with the local community”, Kim Nielsen, CEO at Growing Trees Network.

Life Terra had the opportunity to attend and participate in the event. Both organisations are collaborating on a European level to raise awareness on climate change and will join efforts for future collaborations.

“At Life Terra, we believe that real climate action starts at the community level. We’re proud to be working with our dedicated partner Growing Trees Network, on a European level to plant trees, build awareness, and inspire action,” Sven Kallen, Founder at Life Terra.
