From the outset, FLD CZU has played an important advisory role, contributing its scientific expertise to support Life Terra’s restoration activities under local conditions. Researchers from the faculty have suggested projects with a selection of suitable tree species of interest for further research under the climatic conditions of the Czech Republic. This guidance helps ensure that tree planting activities are aligned with long-term sustainability, resilience to climate change, and scientific monitoring objectives.
The collaboration has also included on-the-ground support for reforestation areas in the highlands near Budišov in the Vysočina region, where Life Terra worked together with CZU and its long-standing partner Lesy České republiky, s. p. (LČR). This joint effort brings together academic knowledge, practical forest management experience, and large-scale restoration goals, creating a strong foundation for impactful and science-based reforestation activities.
Through this ongoing partnership, Life Terra and FLD CZU continue to strengthen the link between research, practice, and climate action in the Czech Republic.

Forests in the Czech Republic, to some extent throughout Central Europe and the
world, are currently under pressure due to changing environment. It is in the
interest of the whole society to restore and restructure forests so that they can fulfil
complex functions in the landscape such as providing protective, regulative and
productive environmental services that fundamentally benefit society
