The cost of one tree is €6 and you can contribute to making the planet greener and help to reduce the effects of climate change. We are also happy to share that we are aiming to plant 500 trees in Nakuru Kenya, on recently acquired land as part of the next steps for the AMI Corner of Hope schools. A number of trees donated during and after the Annual Global Meeting will also be planted in Europe in one of Life Terra’s locations.
AMI fervently hopes the outcomes of this event are long-lasting, and we believe that planting trees is a small yet impactful way to make a difference.

Life Terra
Life Terra is founded on the knowledge that tree planting is regarded as the most cost-effective nature-based solution to capture carbon. As part of a multi-faceted mitigation strategy, planting trees can play an important role in the fight against climate change and the devastation it causes (heat waves, drought, forest loss, desertification, erosion, flooding).
Life Terra seeks to bring people together to plant 500 million trees in Europe, harnessing and monitoring nature’s own carbon capture mechanism and enabling citizens to take urgent action against the climate crisis.
Corner of Hope
The Corner of Hope is a pilot initiative to demonstrate how Montessori teacher training and schools can be delivered to the most vulnerable communities such as those in refugee, transit and IDP Camps.
Its aim is self-reliance not dependence, community not school. Self ownership and control, dignity and self-worth all play an important role in overcoming the trauma experienced by the inhabitants of the camps. It has the added advantage of building for the future and creating transferable skills that will accompany both adults and children wherever their final destination may be. The key focus is for the community to take ownership of all aspects of the process, from construction, to making materials and teacher training.
13 years into existence, the Corner of Hope school in New Canaan is thriving and has become a centre for the community. A second location has opened at a nearby location called Kisima at the request of the community. Corner of Hope has become a model for inspiration and replication, demonstrating a strong foundation in community building, skilled and motivated teachers and flourishing children. The next step for Corner of Hope is to establish another school close to the original New Canaan school, particularly catering to the 6-12 age level and eventually extending up to 18. This school will also include outdoor facilities such as a vegetable garden along with a Montessori material making workshop. Currently, the land is bare and the plan is to plant a lot of vegetation to provide shade and create more secluded areas.
