There for Trees: planting action in Switzerland
Day 1 in Zimmerwald 🌲🇨🇭
Our journey in Switzerland began in Zimmerwald (Bern), where 14 enthusiastic 5th graders from Länggasse School joined forces with There for Trees and local foresters to plant 600 young, climate-resilient trees.
The area, once filled with silver firs dried out by recurring droughts, had become overgrown with blackberry bushes, making natural regeneration impossible. To restore it, we planted a variety of trees better adapted to dry and changing climate conditions each one shielded with individual tree protector.
The day started with a short but powerful forest lesson. Students learned about the vital functions of forests, the effects of climate change on tree health, and why it’s time to rethink the composition of our woodlands. Then, they rolled up their sleeves and got planting!
Big thanks to There for Trees for their inspiring local action and to Lavera Naturkosmetik for supporting this initiative and promoting sustainability in such a meaningful way.

Day 2 in Englisbergwald: Climate Action with Bümpliz School 🌱☀️
On our second day in Switzerland, we headed to the Englisbergwald, surrounded by stunning spring landscapes. This time, we were joined by students from Bümpliz School, There for Trees, and local foresters to plant 500 more climate-resilient trees.
Once again, the area had suffered from drought damage and invasive plants—making our intervention all the more important. With thoughtful species selection, we’re working to rebuild a stronger, healthier forest that can stand up to climate change.
Before digging in, the students took part in a forest talk led by foresters and project partners. Their curiosity and motivation filled the forest with great energy as they planted trees in pairs throughout the morning.
Thank you to everyone who made this day possible and to Lavera Naturkosmetik for their continued support of reforestation and education efforts.
