Castries Planting Site: Monitoring Visit Highlights
A monitoring visit was recently conducted at the Castries planting site in France on May 26, 2026. Observations from the site indicate a high survival rate among the planted trees. Both older and more recent plantings display healthy growth, with many oaks notably thriving and emerging from their protective shelters. In contrast, the pine trees are showing slower growth, which may be attributed to soil conditions in certain areas. It was noted that while many plants are alive and growing, those with leaves extending beyond their protection appeared somewhat dry. This highlights the importance of continued attention as the plants advance beyond their initial sheltered growth stage. Some plants, though alive, appeared round and vulnerable, underscoring the ongoing need for resilience, especially as they face the summer months. The overall health of the site suggests positive progress in its development.
