Monitoring Visit to the Kanaalpark Planting Site
A recent monitoring visit was conducted at the Kanaalpark planting site in Den Bosch, Netherlands. Despite a fence preventing direct access to the plot, observations were successfully made from a distance. The visit revealed a robust state of the planted individuals, with a high proportion demonstrating survival and growth. It was noted that the site is adjacent to an area frequented by horses and mules. Trees situated closest to this range appeared somewhat smaller, an observation attributed to potential browsing activity. The predominant species observed was Crataegus laevigata, forming part of a hedge, alongside some Fraxinus excelsior. Additionally, various Salix species were present, though their origin—whether planted or naturally regenerated—was not definitively determined during the assessment. Overall, the planting appears to be developing well.
