Resilience and Regeneration: A Visit to Enfield Chase
A recent monitoring visit to the Enfield Chase planting site in London, UK, provided valuable insights into the resilience of young woodlands under challenging climate conditions. Shortly after the initial planting phase, the site experienced a severe drought, which unfortunately led to a lower-than-expected tree survival rate. Despite this initial setback, the visit revealed highly encouraging signs of recovery. Active maintenance has been carried out on-site, and those trees that withstood the dry spell are now progressing very well, showing strong and healthy development. Additionally, natural regeneration is beginning to take place, further supporting the long-term ecological restoration of the area. This blend of active care and natural resilience highlights the ongoing transition of the site into a promising woodland habitat.
