Site Visit: Vliertwijksestraat Zuid Planting Progress

A recent monitoring visit on June 4, 2026, provided an update on the Vliertwijksestraat_Zuid_Den_Bosch_NL-22/23 planting site. Observations indicated that a modest number of the planted saplings have successfully established themselves. The site primarily features Ulmus laevis trees, a critically endangered specie, which showed strong growth, with one individual reaching 180cm! Euonymus europaeus, Prunus spinosa, and Crataegus monogyna were also noted. Signs of wildlife interaction were observed, including foraging marks on the bark of Ulmus laevis, potentially from red deer, and frequent digging activity, suggesting the presence of animals such as badgers. While several planted trees were found to be deceased, a resilience was evident as one such tree exhibited new leaf growth at its base. These observations offer a comprehensive picture of the site's current state and its ongoing development.
