The Netherlands saw a strong beginning to this year's planting season
The start of this year’s planting season brought a wave of activity across the Netherlands, with events taking place throughout November and the first days of December. A wide range of activities took place, bringing together companies, schools, volunteers, and local partners to restore nature and boost biodiversity.
The month began with great news from Rabobank ClubSupport, whose 2025 donation will allow us to plant trees together with a local school class, helping children connect with nature through hands-on climate action. Young people also played a leading role during the NECIS Cross Country event in Amsterdam, where students ran laps to “collect” new trees for future planting efforts, showing how education, sport, and sustainability can reinforce each other.
Corporate partners played a major role throughout the month. Greenbookings helped us open the Dutch planting season by mobilising 30 members to plant 1,000 trees at De Natuurkamer in Amsterdam. They also collaborated with us on a major initiative led by NVM Haaglanden, the regional branch of the Dutch real estate association, that made an inspiring commitment to plant one tree for every home sold in 2025.
Further south, the Heimstaden team joined us at Landgoed Beukenhorst in Vught, where we planted 670 young trees to enrich the historic landscape and support broader restoration plans. Despite challenging soils (and a few broken spades), the team worked with remarkable enthusiasm. At Bingerden Estate, volunteers from Huawei and KPN braved cold weather and heavy clay to plant more than 400 new trees, encouraged along the way by a group of curious ducks.
Across all these events, one message stood out: meaningful climate action happens when people come together. We are deeply grateful to all our partners, supporters, and volunteers. Thanks to your energy and commitment, thousands of new trees are now taking root across the Netherlands, strengthening ecosystems and shaping landscapes that will benefit wildlife, communities and climate.
Onwards to the rest of the planting season. Let’s keep planting together!
