Amazon Supports Community Tree Planting in Mazzo di Rho
On February 21-22, Life Terra, in partnership with Amazon and local organizations, led a large-scale tree-planting initiative in Mazzo di Rho. With a focus on hyper-local impact, this project engaged over 400 participants, including Amazon employees, residents, volunteers, and schools, in transforming an urban space into a thriving green area.
Amazon played a key role in the initiative, with 25 of its volunteers actively participating in the planting of 300 trees as part of a broader effort to introduce 1,500 trees and plants into the area. This contribution is part of Amazon’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement, helping to restore biodiversity while creating healthier urban environments.
Designed by landscape expert Cristiano del Toro, the newly planted Raingarden enhances soil permeability, mitigates flood risks, and fosters a micro-ecosystem that will grow and evolve over time. The presence of diverse native species ensures long-term ecological benefits, making the space not just greener but more resilient to climate challenges.
The initiative also had an educational dimension. Local schools were involved in the project, with students symbolically adopting trees and personalizing them with name tags. This hands-on experience strengthens their connection to nature and raises awareness about the importance of urban green spaces.
Recognizing the significance of the project, the Mayor of Rho attended the event, underscoring the value of collaborative environmental action. This tree-planting effort is part of a larger vision to enhance the city's green infrastructure, ensuring that the community benefits from cleaner air, improved biodiversity, and accessible natural spaces for generations to come.
By partnering with Life Terra, Amazon continues to support impactful, grassroots sustainability projects that leave a lasting positive imprint on both the environment and the communities it serves
