ANYH and Lab Aberto plant in Torres Vedras under the European Tree Planting Day
On November 30th, ANYH organised a planting event under the European Tree Planting Day initiative in Torres Vedras with the collaboration of Lab Aberto, ALTRI Forestal and the Municipality of Torres Vedras.
The day started with António Gonçalves, coordinator of the laboratory, explaining their initiative and its objectives. Lab Aberto fosters creativity and technological innovation in schools by establishing specialized laboratories. In these spaces, students build flying wings, autonomous cars and boats, and create objects using 3D printers with a variety of materials.
During the event, 25 volunteers sowed cork oak acorns into small ceramic pots produced with a 3D printer. These seedlings will grow into saplings to be planted next year. Clara Araújo, representing ALTRI Florestal, and Renato Ferreira from the Municipality of Torres Vedras, explained the entire process.

After the sowing activity, we moved to the field to plant 100 strawberry trees.
Lab Aberto prepares students for the technological challenges of the future by engaging them in the artificial universe. However, this initiative aimed to create a harmonisation between forestry and technology, aligning the artificial world with human nature and ecological sustainability.
ALTRI, the Municipality of Torres Vedras and Life Terra will continue to collaborate with Lab Aberto, and in a year, our cork oak saplings will be ready for planting.
