Biggest carbon removal project in Spain

Life Terra is carrying out its largest carbon removal and biodiversity credits project in Alía, Cáceres, Spain.

In collaboration with the farm, we planted 60,000 trees of 19 different species to restore a 38ha terrain, previously invaded by Eucalyptus monoculture.

The trees will help to improve biodiversity, soil health and attract pollinators and local fauna. Of all the species planted, some of them are designed to provide shade in the hottest months of the year, others for fruit production and others to attract different animals and insects.

Carbon removal and biodiversity credits

Life Terra uses the ASES On-Chain (aOCP) protocol to certify its plantings for carbon removals and biodiversity credits.

The aOCP is a nature-positive certification standard for carbon offsetting and biodiversity restoration that assesses the removal and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, along with the biodiversity, soil and water benefits that projects generate.

This method has been qualified and compared to the Gold Standard certification by Bureau Veritas, the specialist for ESG and Sustainability Services.

Why acquire carbon removal credits?

By acquiring carbon removal credits, companies can contribute to high-quality nature restoration projects in Europe and at the same time, comply with the ESG strategies (Environmental, Social and Governance) and CSR goals (Corporate Social Responsibility).
