Insights from the Budišov Planting Site Visit

A monitoring visit to the Budišov planting site was carried out in May 2026 to assess the progress of the restoration works. Established on the site of a former forest nursery, the project serves as a demonstration area for testing a diverse range of tree species under challenging environmental conditions, including low soil water retention and increasing drought pressure.

The visit confirmed that the plantation continues to develop, with surviving trees showing healthy establishment and steady growth. Natural vegetation and early natural regeneration are also contributing to the gradual ecological recovery of the site. Regular maintenance remains important to limit competition from ground vegetation and support the continued development of the young trees.

Overall, the planting is progressing in line with the long-term objective of establishing a more diverse and climate-resilient forest capable of adapting to future environmental conditions.
