Cascina Bagaggera: a regenerative and community focused project
In the province of Lecco, Italy stands Cascina Bagaggera. Here a different kind of system is taking shape. Together with Soulfood Forestfarms, we’re working alongside this farm that has built its identity around organic production, regenerative agriculture, and a strong sense of community. Here, farming follows ecological rhythms, and people are part of the process, not just passing through it.
Cascina Bagaggera hosts a mix of initiatives: diversified organic crops, educational activities, community engagement, and landscape restoration. It’s a place where productivity and care aren’t in conflict, and where attention is given to how food is grown, who is involved, and what kind of environment is being shaped over time.
Within this context, our role with Soulfood Forestfarms focuses on developing a broader agroforestry system across the land. The project is designed to increase productivity per hectare while reinforcing soil health, water retention, and biodiversity. Tree rows are carefully planned, species are selected based on local conditions, and every detail, from spacing to function, is considered to ensure the system works as a whole.
It’s slow work, precise work, and it relies on collaboration at every level. Farmers, local partners, and organisations are coming together with a shared direction. Not theory, not promises. Just a landscape being shaped, season after season, with intention behind every decision.
