Cascina Romanengo Project Updates
At Cascina Romanengo, we are working with Semper Silva to turn underused farmland into a living, evolving forest.
Launched in December 2025, this reforestation and rewilding project focuses on restoring soils, increasing biodiversity, and bringing people back into closer contact with the land. The approach combines ecological restoration with practical land management, showing how productive landscapes and natural systems can grow together over time.
The project uses a mix of native species, carefully selected and arranged to support long-term resilience. The land is structured into different zones, with varying levels of maintenance depending on what each species needs to establish and grow. While the current layout follows a linear planting design, the diversity of species will gradually shape a more complex and layered ecosystem.
Monitoring updates 2025
During a recent monitoring visit, the team observed strong early development across the plot. Despite long periods of rain, many trees are already showing the first spring buds. Growth has been notable, with several individuals already exceeding two meters in height. The overall planting stands out for its precision and care, reflecting the attention given during implementation.
Beyond ecological impact, the project also creates space for community involvement and long-term stewardship. It is designed as a place where environmental, social, and cultural values intersect, contributing to the regeneration of both land and local context.
Companies can take part in this initiative and directly support the restoration of degraded or difficult-to-cultivate land, contributing to climate action while strengthening local ecosystems.
