Châteaupers, Paris: a Local School in Action!

In Châteaupers, France, a former cornfield is taking its first steps toward becoming a flourishing forest. For decades, this land was used for intensive farming, but at a cost: forests disappeared, and with them, much of the biodiversity that makes ecosystems resilient. Now, the landowner has joined forces with Life Terra to reverse this damage and help nature recover one tree at a time.

This project this time was about creating real connections! A 10-meter-wide, 600-meter-long forest corridor is being built to link two isolated patches of forest. By bridging this gap, wildlife will have a pathway to move, forage, and thrive. The trees were planted close together 1 tree every 1.5m² so that only the strongest and healthiest grow tall, mimicking how forests regenerate naturally.

But what truly brought this project to life was the energy of a local school. Over 40 children, many of whom had never planted a tree before, got their hands dirty to help create this forest corridor.

The project’s success was also supported by Ases, which provided a variety of native tree species and prepared the soil to ensure healthy growth. We are proud to highlight what can be achieved when people from different backgrounds and generations work together to restore nature.
