Visiting Cortijo del Milano: A Planting Site Update
A recent visit to the Cortijo del Milano planting site near Badajoz, Spain, provided an opportunity to observe the progress of the project. The site showed signs of active management, with evidence of mulching and irrigation efforts. Overall, a substantial portion of the planted trees appear to be thriving. However, observations indicated that certain species, specifically Populus tremula and Sorbus domestica, have experienced comparatively higher mortality rates. Natural regeneration was also noted, indicating the beginning of a broader ecological recovery. The site has faced environmental challenges, including drought, strong winds, and heavy rainfall, all of which have likely impacted the young trees.
