Site Visit to Cortijo Milano, Badajoz

A recent site visit to the Cortijo Milano planting site in Badajoz offered valuable insights into the project's progress. Monitoring data from May 4th, 2025, provided a clear picture of the area's development. It's evident that maintenance activities, including pruning, watering, and mulching, have been carried out. The estimated survival rate of the planted trees is reasonably good, suggesting positive overall establishment. Observations revealed varying performance among species, with Morus nigra exhibiting a somewhat higher mortality rate compared to others. Encouragingly, there are signs of natural regeneration taking place. The site has faced challenges, including strong winds, heavy rainfall, and drought, highlighting the resilience required for successful reforestation in this environment.
