webinar: EURACTIV Germany: policy stakeholder event 2022 (online)

Earlier today, on June 14th 2022, our communication partner EURACTIV hosted an online policy conference in German about the central question "Does Germany need a new forest policy? Potentials and problems of the Forest Strategy 2050".

The speakers discussed the complex interactions between forests, forestry, climate and species protection at various levels. The lively participation of the audience led, among other things, to questions regarding rewards for ecosystem services, competition for land and conflicting goals, the cascading use of wood in our economic system and biodiversity.

Panelists were Ulrike Müller, MEP, Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI); Stefanie Schmidt, Policy Officer for Forests, DG ENV, European Commission; Tessa Ganserer, Committee on the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection, German Bundestag; Dr. Nicole Wellbrock, Head of Soil Protection and Forest Health, Institute for Forest Ecosystems, Thünen Institute; and Madeleine von Borcke, Business Development Consultant for Life Terra in Germany who briefly presented our project to the audience.

The online conference had about 160 registered participants.

You can watch the recording here (in German).
