First professional planting in Italy finished!

The Life Terra team is very happy to announce that the first professional planting in Italy has been completed. We are very grateful for the role that Consorzio Forestale has played in this planting and for taking care of the more than 9000 trees planted in the 7 hectares of professional planting.

It is a very interesting planting, not only because it is located in a temporarily flooded area such as the riverside of the Po, but also because of its remarkable design. The AlberItalia team designed a multifunctional polycyclic planting that aims to create a more orderly future riverside Woodland (see pictures 3 & 4). Among the species planted we highlight Sessile oak (Quercus robur), White poplar (Populus alba), Alder (Alnus glutinosa) or European black elderberry (Sambucus nigra).

The planting area is within the Natura 2000 network, and this reforestation will undoubtedly bring great ecological value to the area, reducing erosion on the riversides and supporting the local fauna. All this is possible also thanks to our donors EY Italy and with the financial support of One Tree Planted which helped co-finance part of the cost of seedlings.

Our Italian partner, Legambiente, will carry out the planting of the remaining hectare with local volunteers on April 23rd.  We wish them all the best!

In these pictures you can see how the terrain is at the moment (picture 1), how it hopefully will look in the future (picture 2) and the trees planted (picture 3 & 4):
