Planning plantings in Italy with Legambiente

Last week, the Life Terra team traveled to Italy to visit the area where the first Italian professional planting will be carried out in the framework of the European Life Terra project.

There the team met the Italian partner Legambiente and several stakeholders, such as AlberItalia and Consorzio Forestale. The planting areas are in Viadana (Mantova), in the region of Lombardy, on the riverside of the beautiful Po River. It is a multifunctional polycyclic planting that aims to create a more orderly future riverside woodland.

Some of the species to be planted are sessile oak (Quercus robur), white poplar (Populus alba), ash (Fraxinus angustifolia), alder (Alnus glutinosa), or elm (Ulmus minor). Implementation will take place between autumn 2021 and spring 2022.
