Planting Trees to Cool Cities and Improve Energy Efficiency
Life Terra joined the Superhero consortium last year with a clear goal: connect ecological restoration with energy efficiency. Active in 23 European countries and with three years of hands-on experience, Life Terra supports tree planting projects designed to restore biodiversity and strengthen ecosystem services for local communities.
Over the years, these projects have taken place everywhere, from forests and cities to agricultural land and schools, always involving people directly. This experience led to a focus on Miyawaki forests: dense urban forests that grow quickly and deliver tangible environmental benefits.
Together with SUPER-HEERO, Life Terra is now planting Miyawaki forests in areas where reducing energy consumption matters. Trees help lower surrounding temperatures, improving the energy performance of buildings, while also creating safe habitats for insects, birds and other species.
The result is a practical approach where nature restoration supports both communities and regional energy goals. Sometimes, planting trees is also about making cities work better.
