Planting with volunteers in Benissa

This week, a small group of friends gathered in an area near Benissa, in the region of Alacant/Alicante, to plant some trees on the land of one of them. Together, we have planted 50 trees and shrubs of 7 species: Pistacia lentiscus, Quercus faginea, Prunus espinosa, Arbutus unedo, Ceratonia siliqua, Pistacia terebinthus, and Crataegus monogyna. During the planting, we have also applied soil amendments like biochar enriched with mycorrhizae and a solution of micro-algae to enhance root growth and increase tree survivality.

The landowner contributed with some native trees and has a strong commitment to provide regular irrigation and maintain the planted trees in the long term. Participants will be able to keep track and see how their trees grow as they come regularly to this area.
