A Visit to the Hegdambroek Planting Site

The recent visit to the Hegdambroek planting site in Nijmegen offered a valuable glimpse into the progress of the project. The site, monitored in May 2025, showcased generally healthy growth, with the majority of the planted trees thriving. Maintenance activities, including irrigation, have clearly contributed to the positive outcome. Interestingly, no particular species displayed significantly higher mortality rates than others, suggesting that the planting efforts have been well-suited to the location. While there was no evidence of natural regeneration at this stage, it’s worth noting that additional species were introduced to the site at a later planting phase. There was no evidence of catastrophic events affecting the site.
