Miriam Molina Ascanio, Project and Pedagogical Operational Manager at European Schoolnet, recently presented the core elements that define Green and Blue Education—an approach designed to deepen environmental awareness and action through STEM education.

What makes Green and Blue Education?

• Building competencies to help students and teachers understand, care for, and take action for the Planet

• Moving teaching and learning outside the classroom to engage directly with nature and surroundings

• Contextualizing STEM education within society by connecting it to pressing global environmental challenges

• Restoration, protection, and maintenance of ocean biodiversity

• The critical role of oceans in climate regulation, food resources, and overall human well-being

• Career paths in the bioeconomy

• Nature-Based Solutions (NBS), including greening schoolyards

• Experiential, hands-on outdoor learning following a whole-school approach

Life Terra was also featured during the presentation as an active contributor to this educational movement, showcasing the Guide to School Planting, the Terra Mission Educational Pack, and the Terra Mission MOOCs—all designed to support schools in embedding sustainability and climate action into their curriculum.
