Bouray-sur-Juine

About the project

Situated in Bouray-sur-Juine, in a conservation area in the region of Essonne, about 50km south of Paris, this old farmland aims to be further converted into a food forest. 1000m2 situated next to a riparian forest will be developed into a food forest to enhance biodiversity and community engagement with an enriched natural capital and ecosystems. This project thus enhances biodiversity, regenerates soils, and prevents the latent urban sprawl lurking over that region in the name of conservancy.

Objective

Turn a degraded and exhausted 1000m2 bordering an old-growth riparian forest into a food forest promoting agroforestry and community capacity building.

Impact

By supporting this project, you will help restore degraded land with a productive food forest, enhancing ecosystem services in the area. It will improve soil quality, boost water infiltration and biodiversity, store carbon for decades, and increase landscape value. At the same time, it will support an agroecological system that generates long-term revenue for landowners, strengthening local capacity and resilience. The project also improves wildfire and pest control and offers environmental education opportunities through community and school involvement.
