Breydin: Adaptive Forest and Orchard Restoration
About the project
This project restores and reforests three areas with a mix of deciduous and coniferous trees, integrates wild and traditional fruit trees along edges, and establishes a heritage orchard on a former 19th-century forestry site. The areas vary in size from 0.22 to 0.7 hectares, with space for up to 4,000 plants in total - including forest trees, fruit trees and shrubs - ensuring a combination of ecological, climatic, and cultural benefits.
Objective
Create climate-adapted, biodiverse forest and orchard landscapes that are resilient and ecologically valuable.

Impact
By supporting this project, you will help to enhance biodiversity and increase the structural diversity of the forest. We will restore heritage orchard landscapes, preserving cultural and historical values. The project will strengthen the resilience of the forest and orchard areas against climate change and environmental stressors. Finally, it will ensure the successful establishment of diverse tree and shrub species, contributing to long-term ecological stability.
How do we measure this impact?
