Hoeven de Opstand: agroforestry project
About the project
This agroforestry project was initiated by two pioneering farmers who aim to contribute to knowledge development and create a more regenerative agricultural system. The project includes a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) initiative, hedgerows, an alley cropping system, and a food forest. They are already collaborating with the Louis Bolk Institute and the neighbouring agroforestry company FruitzforLife B.V.
As part of the next phase, they aim to establish a 0.5-hectare area consisting of hedgerows and fruit- bearing species. The project will contribute to enhancing biodiversity, improving soil quality, and increasing the resilience of the agricultural landscape. In addition, it serves as a demonstration site that can inspire and support neighbouring farmers in adopting agroforestry practices.

Objective
Pioneering in regenerative/ agroecological agriculture, including agroforestry elements.
Impact
By supporting this project, you will help restore degraded agricultural land with productive agroforestry cover, enhancing ecosystem services in the area. It will improve soil quality, boost water infiltration and biodiversity, store carbon for decades, and increase landscape value.
At the same time, it will support an agroecological system that generates long-term revenue for landowners, strengthening local capacity and resilience. The project also supports agroforestry knowledge development, providing valuable insights and practical experience for future farmers.

How do we measure this impact?
Number of trees planted
Number of hectares restored
Tons of CO2 eq absorbed
Community members involved
