Honville
About the project
The main ambition is to transform a plot of land, exhausted after decades of rotation agriculture, into a native forest and agroforestry ecosystem. A selection of indigenous trees and shrubs will be combined with beehives or mushroom cultivation. At the heart of this new forest, the landowner plans to create a small clearing to accommodate a lightweight dwelling. The person who lives there will be responsible for maintaining the site, a presence that is particularly essential during the first three years after planting to ensure quality, control, and high survival rates, guaranteeing longevity to the project.
Objective
Turn an exhausted 2-hectare agricultural land into a thriving food forest with native, biodiverse, productive, and climate-resilient species.

Impact
Supporting this project not only allows for ecological restoration, the reintroduction of native species, and the regeneration of the soil. This project also has a strong social dimension: it will become fully integrated into the life of the village of Honville. The goal is to transform what is currently a strictly private space into a communal and shared area. Residents will be able to participate (planting trees, maintenance) and, eventually, enjoy the harvested fruits together, as a community agroforestry system.
How do we measure this impact?
Number of trees planted
Number of hectares restored
Tons of CO2 eq absorbed**
Community members involved
Students involved
