Järna: Nature-Inclusive Farm Landscape
About the project
Located in Ytterjärna, 35 km south of Stockholm, this project takes place at Yttereneby Gård, a Demeter-certified biodynamic farm committed to regenerative and holistic land management.
In collaboration with the farm, Life Terra is supporting the transition toward a more nature-inclusive and climate-resilient agricultural landscape. Through strategic tree planting and ecological enhancement, the project aims to strengthen biodiversity, improve ecosystem health, and increase long-term resilience across the farm.
Planned interventions include:
Establishing biodiverse hedgerows that function as windbreaks, wildlife corridors, and natural buffers against agrochemical drift from neighbouring conventional farms
Creating shaded pasture areas to improve animal welfare and climate adaptation
Restoring degraded woodland patches to enhance forest structure and species diversity
Increasing overall landscape diversity within the farm ecosystem
The farm also hosts an academy for biodynamic agriculture, creating opportunities for hands-on engagement and sustainability education linked to restoration activities.
Objective
To strengthen ecological resilience and biodiversity across the farm landscape through phased, strategic nature-based interventions.
The first implementation phase will focus on the creation of a biodiverse hedgerow along a selected boundary of the farm. This initial intervention will function as a windbreak, ecological corridor, and natural buffer, while laying the foundation for broader landscape-scale biodiversity and resilience measures in future phases.

Impact
Increase biodiversity by introducing native species and strengthening ecological corridors.
Improve soil health, microclimate regulation, and water retention.
Strengthen resilience against climate change and pest pressures.
Enhance animal welfare through the integration of shaded grazing areas.
Engage local stakeholders and students in practical climate and nature action.
How do we measure this impact?
Number of trees and shrubs planted
Number of native species introduced
Hectares of landscape restored
Community members and students engaged
Number of planting and educational activities
