‘t Gagel, Lochem: regenerative agriculture
About the project
This farm is part of Lenteland Farms, a Dutch organisation focused on developing local regenerative farms. The goal of t’ Gagel is to produce healthy, locally sourced food, restore biodiversity, improve ecosystem health, and strengthen the connection between people and the farms in their local communities.
The project operates as a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) initiative and includes an innovative tree nursery, agroforestry practices such as hedgerows and alley cropping, and the restoration of traditional landscape features.

As part of the first phase, the farm aims to establish additional agroforestry systems focused on fruit and nut production, alongside new landscape elements such as hedgerows and wooded banks. These measures will further enhance biodiversity, strengthen ecosystem resilience, and serve as a demonstration of regenerative agriculture in practice.
Objective
Support a pioneering project that aims to demonstrate the long-term sustainability, resilience, and positive impacts of regenerative agriculture at scale.

Impact
By supporting this project, you will help restore degraded agricultural land with productive agroforestry cover, enhancing ecosystem services in the area. It will improve soil quality, boost water infiltration and biodiversity, store carbon for decades, and increase landscape value. At the same time, it will support an agroecological system that generates long-term revenue for landowners, strengthening local capacity and resilience. The project also supports agroforestry knowledge development, providing valuable insights and practical experience for future farmers.
How do we measure this impact?
Number of trees planted
Number of hectares restored
Tons of CO2 eq absorbed
Community members involved
