Toulouse tree-planting project

As part of Toulouse's continued effort for urban reforestation, Life Terra is discussing new planting projects for the 2026-2027 season.

The planting project will be aligned with the municipality's "100,000 trees" initiative aimed at creating green spaces in the city, by and for its citizens, by 2030.

About the project

Urban reforestation plays a vital role in creating healthier, more resilient cities. By increasing tree cover, urban areas benefit from cleaner air as trees naturally absorb pollutants and improve overall air quality. They also help reduce the urban heat island effect by providing shade and cooling the environment, making cities more comfortable during hotter months.

In addition, trees support better water management by absorbing rainwater and reducing the risk of flooding. Expanding green spaces enhances urban biodiversity, offering habitats for birds, insects, and other wildlife. Beyond environmental benefits, urban forests contribute to improved mental well-being by providing access to nature, while also making neighbourhoods more attractive, walkable, and socially vibrant.

Context

In January 2024, Life Terra planted the first Miyawaki forest in the heart of the beautiful city of Toulouse, in the green area of Argoulets, in collaboration with the City Hall of Toulouse, ASES, and ClimatePartner.

Since then, we have developed more community planting projects in different locations of the city:
