Alihuen project

Alihuen Farm is a family-run initiative in Chiloé, Chile, that combines regenerative agriculture, reforestation, and community engagement. Using permaculture and organic farming practices, they are restoring degraded pastureland into native forest ecosystems, with the goal of reconnecting fragmented habitats and improving biodiversity.

Over more than 20 years, they have already planted 45,000 native tree species to create a diversity of habitats. This has resulted in the appearance of five pudus, the smallest species of deer in the world, endemic to this ecosystem and considered at risk of extinction.

Alihuen also involved local primary schools in the plantings. They recently planted 200 trees with 10 kids from a local school in Chepu, bringing the total to 800 trees planted since 2023.
