Kicking Off the 2025 UK Tree Planting Week at Enfield Chase
Two dedicated teams from Third Bridge and EY came together to launch our 2025 UK Tree Planting Week at Enfield Chase, North London. In just two hours, they planted 180 native, mixed-species trees laying the groundwork for a greener future. With brisk but dry weather on our side, the landscape quickly transformed as tree guards dotted the 1.9-hectare plot, providing essential protection for the young saplings against rabbits and deer.
Once a royal hunting ground, Enfield Chase was historically a mosaic of ancient woodland, meadows, and wild rivers. However, over centuries, deforestation and river modifications altered its natural balance, leaving only remnants of its past. Today, this area is at the heart of London’s largest woodland and nature restoration initiative. The ambitious vision: to convert up to 1,000 hectares of former farmland into a thriving, publicly accessible nature space, seamlessly connecting with existing parks and open areas. Plans include the creation of extensive new woodlands, ponds, and wetlands, all interwoven with a network of footpaths and cycleways—making it one of the most significant nature restoration projects near a major UK city.
Partnering with Enfield Borough Council on this transformative project is an honor, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to EY and Third Bridge for their commitment, hard work, and generous support.
