lavera Naturkosmetik, Life Terra and Wald4Leben join forces in Austria
lavera Naturkosmetik and the Life Terra Foundation have partnered with the local organisation Wald4Leben to restore degraded forests in Lower Austria. Together with students from the local elementary school, the organizations planted 500 trees to revitalize a forest severely impacted by drought and bark beetle infestations. This initiative underscores the importance of climate-adapted reforestation and fostering environmental awareness among younger generations.
Austrian forests have been severely weakened by persistent drought, leading to massive European spruce bark beetle infestations. Many spruce stands were completely affected, requiring full clearance. However, due to financial constraints, forest owners have been unable to reforest these areas, leaving hundreds of hectares barren. Wald4Leben is addressing this crisis by promoting climate-resilient mixed forests instead of monocultures, ensuring long-term sustainability and biodiversity.
“We are committed to strengthening the forests’ climate protection function, helping to restore Austria’s natural landscapes and ensure their longevity for future generations. By involving local schoolchildren, this initiative fosters environmental awareness and empowers the next generation to take an active role in climate action”, said Lukas Schmalzbauer from Wald4Leben.
lavera Naturkosmetik, a brand committed to sustainability and environmental responsibility, has long supported reforestation efforts to protect biodiversity and promote climate resilience. Their involvement in this project aligns with their broader mission to promote environmental awareness among younger generations. The Life Terra Foundation has been lavera’s strategic European partner for several reforestation projects specifically involving children since 2023.
“By engaging local students and focusing on climate-resilient reforestation, we hope to inspire a lifelong commitment to protecting nature and support restoration projects in Austria and other countries in Europe”, Mrs Sabine Kästner, Representative of lavera Naturkosmetik.
With this, Life Terra kicks off its first activity in the country, expanding its presence to yet another European country. As the biggest climate action initiative in Europe, Life Terra continues to empower individuals, businesses, and communities to take meaningful environmental action.
“At Life Terra, we believe that engaging local communities and future generations is key to addressing the climate crisis. This project in Austria is a great example of how climate action, environmental education, and community involvement can come together to create lasting positive change,” Sven Kallen, Founder at Life Terra.
