New trees for Africa - Life Terra now also active in Côte d'Ivoire
Our partner planting organisation Bouchon Relais BAKHÔ is not only active in Nice, France, but also in several (Western) African countries. Together with multiple local stakeholders and authorities new trees were planted around the school yards of the Lycée Moderne 3 de Daloa, Côte d'Ivoire. Daloa is the third-largest city in Ivory Coast, located in the Haut-Sassandra Region (western part) and suffering the impact of climate change with more and longer periods of drought.
Over the course of 3 days the kids and other volunteers planted 1.000 native trees (teak, white teak, and Njansang or ground nut tree). Also symbolic trees were reserved for the Mayor, Prefect and several other authorities. We hope this project will make local people more aware about the importance of trees and that it will help to care for them and plant more in the future. The pupils were all very motivated to participate and received a certificate from the association for their great work at the end of the event.
