The EAIE Conference to offset part of its emissions in collaboration with Life Terra Foundation
Life Terra is proud to announce that the European Association for International Education (EAIE) has chosen to offset part of its carbon footprint for its 2025 Annual Conference in Gothenburg by purchasing Life Terra’s nature-based carbon removal credits.
The EAIE Conference is Europe’s leading international higher education event that counts with more than 7,500 participants and 200+ exhibition stands. Through this collaboration, emissions associated with the conference's execution will be offset through certified carbon removals from reforestation projects in several key European locations.
Life Terra, a climate action initiative now present in more than 30 countries in Europe, is involved in carbon credits that remove CO2 from professional tree-planting, long-term ecosystem restoration and community-driven tree-planting events.
In line with EAIE’s values and mission, one of Life Terra’s main pillars is to educate and engage young people in climate action, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to build a more sustainable future.
“Our goal is to raise environmental awareness and drive climate action, which is why we are thrilled to support the EAIE Conference in becoming carbon neutral. We hope their leadership in sustainability will serve as an example for the events and education sector and help engage students and staff in climate action”
Life Terra will be present at the conference with an exhibition stand at the Sustainability Hub. Furthermore, each visitor will receive a voucher with a symbolic tree. These trees have been adopted by the EAIE to support several local restoration projects across Europe.
This collaboration reflects a growing movement among international event organisers and the higher education sector to take responsibility for their climate impact. In this case, the EAIE set up the #EAIEgreengoals campaign with the ultimate goal of achieving a net-zero conference by reducing their carbon footprint, but also inspiring participants and exhibitors to take responsible actions.
