The Green Train holds its first event in Amsterdam

Last week, The Green Train embarked on its inspiring journey with its very first event at Mediamatic in Amsterdam.

Riders of the European Sleeper were invited to participate and over 400 seedlings of native tree species were delivered to plant and care for.

The Green Train is a unique cross-border collaboration that blends art, nature, and climate action. It brings together Finnish artist Nina Backman’s Silence Project, the environmental initiative A Million Trees to Finland, and European Sleeper, alongside a growing network of environmental partners. Together, they aim to inspire communities to reconnect with nature and take tangible steps for the planet.

This inaugural year, Life Terra Foundation was proud to contribute to the project by providing its tree-tagging platform and digital dashboard to map all the trees planted. This technology allows participants to follow the growth of their trees and see their collective impact across Europe.

Also, the initiative has taken part in the European Tree Planting Day, a movement that wants to boost environmental impact and encourage other tree-planting organisations and individuals to contribute to local climate action.

It’s been a pleasure to collaborate with the first edition of The Green Train. A beautiful example of how art, community, and climate action can come together to create lasting change.
