Land og Skógur
Land and Forest Iceland (Land og skógur) is Iceland’s national agency for land reclamation and forestry, operating under the Ministry for the Environment, Energy and Climate. It is responsible for:
Restoring degraded land and combating soil erosion
Managing afforestation and sustainable forest development
Sequestering carbon to support Iceland’s climate goals
Providing expert guidance to landowners and municipalities
Promoting environmental research and education
The agency’s work is grounded in the belief that Iceland’s natural resources—its vegetation and soils—must be protected, restored, and sustainably managed. Its long-term vision prioritizes ecosystem health, biodiversity, climate resilience, and the sustainable use of land across the country.
