Terramay
Terramay is a regenerative farm based in Alentejo, Portugal. Its owners, Thomas Sterchi and the de Brito family, who have been friends and professional partners for many years, share a vision: turning a regenerative agriculture and sustainable tourism project into a unique experience and fighting desertification. After countless trips to the south of Portugal, on November 15, 2018 the 562-hectare property on the banks of the Alqueva was acquired and Terramay was born. Terramay means Mother Earth and is the home and livelihood of our horses, cows, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, bees and plants. Animal welfare and respect for Mother Nature are the basis of our work. (copied from their website)In January 2023, Terramay collaborated with Life Terra to plant over 3300 native trees and shrubs in an area of 9 ha. The planting events engaged volunteers and the local community. The new trees contributed to the stabilisation and improvement of soil properties, improving water infiltration and water quality, facilitating tree regeneration and increasing the tree density and canopy cover.
