Trovador
Trovador is a pioneering Portuguese initiative at the intersection of technology and ecological restoration. At its core is an autonomous, all-terrain tree-planting robot designed to reach and restore areas where traditional methods struggle, such as steep, burned, or otherwise inaccessible terrain. Built to help plant saplings with precision and care, Trovador measures soil conditions, drills planting holes, places trees, and tampers the soil, fundamentally reinventing how forests are regenerated.
Born from the vision of young innovators and supported by emerging research and development in robotics and environmental tech, Trovador represents a scalable approach to climate action, combining automated efficiency with ecological insight. In pilot field tests, this innovative system has been used alongside volunteer teams to plant native trees in Mediterranean landscapes, laying the groundwork for future deployments and broader impact. Detailed insights on performance and future advancements will be published as the project progresses.
As a Life Terra Planting Partner, Trovador exemplifies how cutting-edge solutions can contribute to climate-positive restoration while inspiring new collaborations and technological breakthroughs. Together with Life Terra’s mission to enable large-scale tree planting and community climate engagement, Trovador helps expand the tools available for impactful, lasting restoration across Europe and beyond.
