Urbem is a Lisbon-based non-profit organisation dedicated to bringing nature back into the city through community-led urban reforestation.
Using the Miyawaki method and locally adapted native species, Urbem creates dense and biodiverse urban miniforests that help strengthen biodiversity and climate resilience while reconnecting people with nature. Community participation is at the heart of its approach, involving local residents, schools and organisations in the creation and long-term care of these new urban ecosystems.
Life Terra collaborates with Urbem to support the development of new urban forests in Lisbon, combining ecological restoration, tree planting and community engagement.
