The project in Villagonzalo Pedernales, in the province of Burgos, aims to restore a former cropland that had become degraded and heavily affected by soil erosion. The objective is to transform this area into a resilient forest ecosystem by increasing biodiversity, expanding forest cover, and creating new green zones for the local community.

Species selection and adaptation

The choice of species was based on their resilience to the local soil and climatic conditions. A mix of broadleaf and conifer species was planted to ensure both ecological stability and habitat diversity for local fauna.

The inclusion of fruit-bearing and fast-growing trees also contributes to improving soil quality and providing food and shelter for wildlife.

Impact

In September 2025, volunteers carried out several planting events to establish a diverse forested area. The initiative was organised together with Corredor Biológico Mundial and L’Oréal employees, who joined efforts with Life Terra to make this restoration possible.

In total, 7,847 seedlings between trees and shrubs were planted during this action. This will contribute to stabilizing the soil, enriching biodiversity, and setting the basis for a resilient forest ecosystem in Villagonzalo Pedernales.
