Tree Monitoring Technology
We want to be transparent not only in the number of trees planted during the project but also with the success of these reforestations.
This is why we believe that monitoring the trees planted is essential to provide transparency and assess the success of our restoration projects.
Life Terra’s platform: tree tagging
Life Terra has developed its own tagging tool and platform to geolocalise the newly planted trees.
With our platform, citizens and companies can tag the trees they planted during the Life Terra events. Once tagged, they can afterwards see them and check some relevant information (species, CO2 estimation, and other details) in their own personal dashboard.
Companies and organisations can also have their own Group Dashboard to track their planted or adopted trees with Life Terra (see an example in the picture).

Furthermore, all Life Terra events can be checked on our website. Each event page contains information on the number of trees planted, tree species, a plot map and CO2 estimation. It also displays satellite monitoring updates for all plots.
Citizen monitoring tool
One of the biggest differentiators of our monitoring system is the Citizen Monitoring Tool. This tool helps us determine a specific plot's survival rate and report on our trees' growth and planting success, especially when trees are too small to be monitored by satellite.

This tool isn't just limited to our team; it enables volunteers, citizens, and partners to actively participate in data collection. Picture this: whether you're a landowner, a member of partner organisations, or just a concerned citizen, you'll have access to a simple tool to monitor our trees.
With our citizen monitoring tool, anyone, regardless of expertise, can provide us with valuable and consistent information about our plantings. This participatory approach wants to increase the monitoring coverage while fostering public engagement in climate action.
Satellite Monitoring
Life Terra is not only monitoring trees through our citizen monitoring tool but also integrating satellite monitoring capabilities to enhance our understanding of reforestation efforts.
While the citizen monitoring tool allows anyone to track specific plot survival rates and tree growth, our satellite monitoring system provides a broader overview of planting health. This integrated approach ensures transparency and accessibility for all stakeholders.
Furthermore, we have implemented proactive measures within our platform. Some alerts notify landowners or organisations involved in specific plantings if any concerning trends are detected. These alerts serve as warnings, empowering stakeholders with timely information to address potential issues promptly.

We aim to provide comprehensive support to landowners and organisations, fostering greater control and insight into their reforestation initiatives.
Carbon calculator
The University of Barcelona and CERTH have created a carbon footprint calculator for people, a handy tool that explores your daily routines to reveal how they impact the environment. From your travels to your meals and leisure activities, every detail is examined to determine your personal carbon footprint.
But it's not just about numbers; it's about understanding. By using this tool, you'll learn how your choices affect the planet and find ways to make greener decisions. It's an eye-opening experience that empowers you to take action and reduce your carbon emissions.
